Connect to NINA
When NINA control is required, please follow the steps below to connect the device.
①Install NINA and ASCOM Platform
There are duplicate steps in other tutorials, please skip if completed.
Download and install NINA and ASCOM Platfrom through the following official link.
②Install CH340 serial port driver and Onstep ASCOM driver
There are duplicate steps in other tutorials, please skip if completed.
Download and install the driver through our download center.
③Connecting to computer
There are duplicate steps in other tutorials, please skip if completed.
Connect the control box to a 12V power supply and connect it to the computer via a USB cable.
Open the device manager on the computer, check if the CH340 serial port device is recognized, and remember the COM port number (as shown in the picture as COM180).
If not recognized, please try restarting the computer, reinstalling the CH340 driver, and reinserting the control box.
③Connect to NINA
Open NINA, the first step is to open the Mount device interface, the second step is to select Onstep, and the third step is to open the settings.
In the pop-up settings window, select the COM port that was viewed in the previous step, and in this tutorial, select COM180. If the recognition is successful, all parameters below will be displayed. If the connection is not successful, the parameters below will not be displayed.
After successfully identifying all parameters, click OK to close this settings window and click Connect.
After clicking on the connection, the following window may pop up to help you synchronize the position information of NINA and control box.
If your observation position has already been set in NINA but not in the Onstep control box, you can click on 'From NINA to Mount'.
If your observation position has already been set in the Onstep control box but not in NINA, you can click on 'From Mount to NINA'.
Subsequently, when all parameters have been displayed, it indicates that NINA has successfully connected to Onstep. For instructions on how to use NINA for shooting, please refer to the NINA tutorial.
